About Heather

I graduated with a degree in graphic design & illustrator at the Art Institute of Boston in 2001 and since graduation I've working independently as a graphic and website designer.  I married and had children too.  Like any WAHM, running my own business has not always gone smoothly.  3 years ago, I had a particularly bad experience and wanted to give up completely, but knew I would miss the joy that being creative brought me.

Stampin Up! found me 3 years ago after we moved to Virginia for my husband's job with the Navy. I was new to the area and thrilled when my neighbor invited me over for a party to get to know the ladies on the street and do some stamping. I would have done almost anything for a night out with grownups! But, I didn't have high expectation since I already knew I didn't like stamping. I planned to find the cheapest thing in the catalog that I could use.

My now upline planned some simple cards for us to make and did a quick demonstration. I could not believe I was stamping and making these pretty cards by myself. Although I had graduated from Art School with a degree in Illustration & graphic design, scrapbooking was difficult for me, and stamping had been a flop thus far! I loved the 2 cards I made and wanted more fun! We formed a monthly stamp club that night with the other ladies on the street. Then my demonstrator pulled out the mini catalog, it was June 30th, the pressure was on because the mini Catalog was ending the next day. I was in love with all the stamps inside of it and had a wish list a mile long. (I can only imagine what my demonstrator was thinking!) The only reason I didn't sign up as a demo immediately was because I didn't want to spend the money on the kit, and another $200 buying all the stamps set I wanted in the mini. I joined a few months later in December just to get the 20% discount on my supplies. After a few months of meeting my quota, I started to hold quarterly workshops, and since then it has grown from there.

Being a Stampin’ Up! independent demonstrator is so rewarding. I found a business that gave me the creative outlet I craved and also gave me the fun interaction with friends I had been missing working alone as a freelancer and being home with kids all day. I love helping others find that same magical "I made this" moment when I first started stamping! I absolutely love what I do now! My dad taught me as a little girl that I should find something I loved doing, and then find someone who wanted to pay me to do what I love! I could not ask for a better fit. I love to teach others and share my passion for stamping and scrapbooking. The hours are great, and the rewards are fantastic. If you would like to learn how you can
become a demonstrator too, please contact me.
